The Adventures of MODAN- World Cup and X-Games (more to come)

The Adventures of MODAN!

So here we are after our first season of MODAN our girls traveled all over the world bringing home the big bucks and the trophies. The season went out with a banger with a big team win at WSI and a new team member. So here is the winter through the eyes of MODAN recapping the wins, the losses and the parties that came along with the competitions.

World Cup
Dania Assaly started her season by heading off to France to compete at the FIS World Cup Pipe competition at Les Contamines. She got to stay at a beautiful house at the base of the mountain with friends and the only way should could explain this adventure was "amazing, amazing, amazing!" Fellow Albertan team members were there competing and cheering eachother on making the trip even more enjoyable. With fine wines, cheeses and foods the girls got to explore all that this quaint town had to offer. Dania killed it after only four days of training at Copper Mountain prior to jetting accross the world. Dania tied for 3rd but came out in 4th with nothing but a smile on her face and a fire behind her knowing she wanted to only do better. We were stoked none the less and she left us anxious to see how far she would go in the season to come.

Some pictures from France that Dania took in her travels.

X- GAMES!
After the World Cup came not only training but a big reunion and some glorious blue bird days at world famous Park City Mountain Resort. Everyone was there training for the biggest competition in freestyle skiing the X-Games. Dania returned to catch some air on the beautiful pipe along with fellow team member Angeli Vanlaanen and other friends and big names including Byron Wells, Tyler Peterson, Tanner Hall, Peter Olenick, and Simon Dumont. Filmers were out and skies were blue and training was underway. Dania started landing her nines and nailing her right 5's getting ready to prove her spot as first alternate, it was so fun standing on the pipe filming next to the big names. Dania and Angeli headed down a few days early to train on the X-Game's pipe. Angeli got the hook up with a great condo provided by Red Bull Energy Drink one of Angeli's sponsors. The first days were strictly training and skiing but at the events started going off so did the parties. Red Bull started the night festivities with a bang with a Santagold concert. Angeli obviously got the hook up and the girls danced the night away. The second day rolled around and the rest of the MODAN girls headed down to Colorful Colorado to cheer our friends. With a two queen bed hotel room and seven girls it was crowded to say the least.  The next days were filled with several competitions, which we were able to get some class A viewing spots. Girls had practice and then Dania showed me the kind of living that they were experiencing as athletes I got to roll into the athletes tent and meet some of her good friends and biggest named athlete's both skiers and snowboarders it was a humbling experiencing to say the least, food everywhere, big screen TVs, and video games X-Games takes care of their athletes. As the day wrapped up everyone was exhausted Dania, Angeli and John Riddle went to a sushi joint in downtown Aspen to wrap up the night. The next day rolled around and the contests we had been waiting and training for arrived. Tension was on but it was so fun to watch the girls kill it in training. Unfortunately Mirjam Jaeger kept her spot in the X-Games despite injury so Dania was unable to compete in finals however were able to cheer on Angeli who killed it ending up in 6th place. It was a great show by all and celebrations were to take place at the Powder awards. So glad we got the opportunity to go with great friends. It is an experience I will never forget. I just hope next year we can make it next year to see Dania go big!

Here are some pictures from the trip.
