DEW TOUR: BRECK STOP

Mike Riddle, Halfpipe Winner at the Breck Dew Tour

SO! Despite the fact that us ladies were selfishly excluded from the Breckenridge stop of the Tour, it did not stop the boys from absolutely crushing the 18" halfpipe!
So proud of the top 12 guys, (most of whom threw dubs) showing that our sport is still rapidly growing, and there is barely time to catch up if you're behind!
My fellow teammate Banks Gilberti was a busy boy the past few days, making finals in superpipe, and semi finals for slopestyle! With his smooth style, blunt grabs, and stomped landings, Banks made his way up to the top 15 in Slope Semis, and placed 8th in Pipe Finals!! Congrats friend!

Jossi Wells
Winner of superpipe last night was MIKE RIDDLE! My best friend and teammate absolutely KILLED it on his second run, going HUGE, grabbing hard, and stomping doubles! With a 93.00 points, he was the clear winner last night, with the lovely Kiwi, Jossi right behind him, also stomping his first two dubs in contest! So so proud!! The frenchies were on their game as usual too, with Xavier and Rolland coming 3rd and 4th, respectively. Justin Dorey, also going HUGE in this tiny pipe, landing his double first hit to get him into 5th place. SO proud of all the boys!

Justin Doery
Today in Slopestyle finals, Andreas Hatveit took the lead, with Tommy Wallicsh comin in 2nd, and Sammy in third. With most of these boys throwing doubles on two of the three jumps there were, the competition gets tight, and the boys have to be on their game!

Lets use this as inspiration girls! Lets spin more, grab harder and more consistently, and get tricky on rails! Show everyone we can do it too!

Next Dew Tour stop expects to add Women's Freeskiing Superpipe event, with a field of 20 ladies, and a 20,000 dollar purse... Now what do we say to that? As happy as I am, this is only a step in the right direction for this contest, as they have yet to add women's slope. Lets get on this! We have to be treated the same as everyone else, and we still have to make them realize that we are not happy and are expecting more. :) SOON! Let's get'em ;)

Signing out,
MERRY CHRISTMAS! See you in the New year!

Time to take a stand

This season is certainly going to be a different one for majority of female skiers in this crazy industry. With the exclusion of women in the 2009/2010 Dew Tour Circuit thus far, it is time to take a stand together and prove that we should be included just as snowboard women are.

Instead of thinking negatively on this topic, lets get our ski on harder than ever! Lets ride for ourselves, film and make edits, compete where we can, and have the time of our lives! This does not control how we ski, where we ski, or the people we ski with. This is not about proving ourselves to anyone, because in my opinion we have already done so and got shut down.
This is about ladies coming together, pushing each other even harder, and having a blast while doing so.
We need support, and to have this, lets show them what we have got by filming and writing... Any girl is welcome at anytime to post up edits on our Modan Blog. The whole idea behind this is to have girls that slay on the mountain get together and come up from under! It is a blog for chicas like us to get our footage out there, talk about what is going on in our lives, and keep up with the ski world we are all a part of! Lets get this blog rolling, have it be a foundation where girls can show off their talents and anyone can and will see it! Blog pictures and videos, stories and comments.
If we all do this the right way, maybe we can get the support we need, not just from others and those who dictate where our sport "should be going", but support from each other! That, is really the start we need to make a difference. So lets begin!

COLORADO!

For the past ten days, I have been out shredding in Co! It is awesome here right now, with almost nothin but blue sky, rails, jibs, and YUMPS!
Keystone opened with about 12 rails, and one perfect size early season jump.
AND! Breck has a perfect fun little three set in Park Lane we have been hitting for the past week.... Hot laps are in session.
Keri Herman is KILLIN it, I'm loving jumping again, and workin on my rail game! We are definitely getting some filming done so that is great! My little HD camera is working stupendously, and Jake Strassmen is helpin us out on camera too :) He is so awesome!
There have got to be about 150 snowboarders and skiers lapping Breck all day, so much fun!
Come out and visit!!!!

Anna's day at snowpark

So this is my first post on the Modan blog. It's kinda crazy that I'm still in Australia (just gotten back from the pool) and all the Modan girls are over in Utah and CO already getting their ski on.

Anyways, yesterday I spent my time at work making a mini edit. This is one of the rare sunny days I experienced in NZ this August. Thanks to Sean Kaldhusdal for the wobbly filming and sound effects.

Dania For Surface

This season I am stoked to be riding for Surface! This is a great company, that will allow me to share my ideas, and be a part of its fast growing market. I love the team, Mike is a wonderful team manager, and I can't wait to work with them!
Photo shoots and filming, pow skiing and Utah! Thanks Surface, for a season that I cannot wait for!
Check out www.thesurfacelab.blogspot.com.

The Modan girls got WILD on halloween! Molly was Princess Frostine, Becca was little red riding hood, Dania was a rockstar and Sandy from Grease, V Ron was a cop, Jordan was an Indian Princess, Josh was a hardcore rockstar, and Anna beezy was a NINJA!

FALL BREAK
Home away from Home
Girls are back at school in SLC, I'm back at home in Edmonton AB!
Stoked to be home for a minute, take a little break, visit with the family and friends out here, but I am definitely missing all the parties and school activities that go on in Utah right now! Plus, I hear it has snowed in CO, so hopefully but the time I get back to Salt Lake in the late fall, we will have some pre season hiking to do!

Hi it's Dania here! Just in NZ right now hangin out in a pretty Hood house in Wanaka! I am staying with all the Canadians, so I feel right at home! Wanaka is so great, a beautiful little town right on the South Island of NZ. The town surrounds a lake, and you can see mountains where ever you look. Those that live here must wake up everyday and think they are the luckiest people on the planet! You really realize that the world is a beautiful place when you live somewhere so pure and natural :)

It is winter again, and there has been three days of competition in about 5 days... So, wild ride but they have been going really well! Two slope contests and one pipe. Three different mountains all offering a little somethin different... Snowpark is real fun, good rails and jumps, Remarkables was in Queenstown, where the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen took place, and my favorite resort so far, Cardrona, has a perfect pipe and really fun jumps.

Here are some pictures from sunrise, mountains views, and skiing! Enjoy and I will make sure to keep up with the blog and share more from down unda!

MODAN summer in the SLC

As we all know two of our girls, Anna and Dania have traveled off for the summer to ski and play in beautiful Hood River, OR skiing, hitting up the coast and keeping the boys in line. However the rest of us not as fortunate have been holding it down in the SLC. It has been quite the hot summer but in between our efforts to roll in a little bit of money we have discovered some pretty cool activities to keep ourselves cool and entertained. Between Weber float adventures (and injuries), echo cliff jumping, Gallivan Twilight series and Cottonwood Heights pool, shooting the tube, parties and summer time cookouts many stories are to be told! Molly is off to hood today to meet up with the girls  to try and get in some late summer skiing in the 102 degree heat and maybe hit up the beach with some long lost friends! I recently started working for Saga Outerwear as their intern and they have been a blast to work with. They are an amazing group of people with a lot of passion and hard work in their company. The designs these guys throw out on a day to day basis is astounding if you get the chance check out their blog www.sagaouterwear.com and their twitter they update a lot more often and have some funny stories and links to keep you entertained. Here are some pictures of our adventures.

All I have to say about Hood, is BEST SUMMER in a while! So much skiing, so much sun, surf, beach, friends, new tricks, campers, yoga, and chillin! Wow it was great, and campfires under the stars on the beach is far better than falling asleep in a bed. Sending it hard on Canada day in another country is far better than your own because everyone thinks you are insane, and skiing in the sun lapping so many times a day is the best feeling ever! Dahoodesthouse... Now those chicks know how to rip almost as hard as MODAN. ;) Yeahhhh Hood.

WSI 2009! and a little Britney ;)
Its me, Dania! WSI, just like every other year, was OFF THA HOOK! There is no better place to be than Whistler in the spring for this event. The music was amazing, the skiing was ok, the weather was awful, but the peak to peak chair and the park jump set up was sooo sick.
For me, WSI started off with the Britney Spears concert in Vancouver... yah... you can IMAGINE my excitment. She was so damn hott and so damn amazing. really, nothing better ;) We all dressed up as her in a different video and looked SMOKIN.

SO WSI started off with a kicker party, not as much Max Fish as there normally is, but a ton of pole dancin and chargin the dance floor at Buffalo Bills. It was a busy busy week for me, felt awesome though! Big Air Quals started the
contest off, and my lil homie Megan Gunning won and i came second, so we were STOKED to be hitting the big jump the next night! We threw down with the boys in front of a hugeee crowd feelin awesome! We got to watch Roz G throw a sick 10 to take the win and the boys throw as many double corks as they could. Exhausted after, i decided to sleep instead of party so i could ski in Orage Masters the next day!
Team Dynastar (aka, 70s basketball team) consisted of Riddle, Trennon, Rainville, McCrea,
Me. Through the storm and fog, we tried our best to look awesome, make some baskets, and use team work to our advantage... In the end it was the Volkl team that took the win, but we did leave Surface a wee bit disappointed with kickin them out first round ;)

Next day was pipe Quals, and through a fuzzy morning from a long night dancing, I made it through to finals, meeting Ange already there! Angeli on Finals day was going bigger than most of the guys on her first hit... It was insane and SOOO sick! I had not skied pipe in about three months, so i just went for it, trying the run I was used to and having fun with my friends in the sun! Lots of smiling and dancing and picture taking! Suprise to find... I WON! I had no idea, until all the girls were finished, and I was so stoked! WSI has always been a goal, so being up there with Ange in second and Megan in third was EPIC! I was so pumped for my chicas and we had a blast all day! Another WSI going down in the books ;)

MOUNT HOOD, OR!     summer time :)
Hey its Dania again! Reporting from HOOD! Let me tell you, if you are not out here,  you should be! I began my June off with a phone call telling me that i could come down to Hood for a dollar less than a penny, and ski everyday! So
i took it and immediately started livin the ark life... Oregon is the most beautiful place on earth, and I do believe i need to marry and American so i can someday live here :) The vinyards and trees and mountains are so gorgeous! The ark life (where i am currently residing), is pretty
much a run down motel, infested with kids like me, just livin in Hood to ski and have pretty much the most laid back, awesome life you could ask for... We are here to ride, and timberline mountain is open all year round! Windells has offered us one of the sickest summer parks out there, and the best crew of employees to shred with everyday...

THE
ARK

So skiing started out for me GREAT! I was skiing in the sun and occasional fog, and learning a handful of tricks! Didnt like my after skiing job so much, so I stopped that and kinda somehow got away with making up my own! I am now a pipe coach for a couple hours a day up on hill, and a yoga instructor! LEGIT right!? sooooo life is good! I currently have a terribly bruised tail bone, trying to heal and get back out there soon... Meanwhile, Anna Segal is killin it doing rodeos and sick 5s... showin her little campers how its done! Moo was also out here for two sessions kickin it and skiing with us! Windells has a new Tow Rope for s few rails and some 30 footers that are super fun, a new bag jump which people are LOVING, and a real sick pipe!!!

We are enjoying our ski time, party time at DA HOOD HOUSE, (all of dem crazy boys!) THE ARK, and surfing and beaching a ton on the coast! Lots of beach trips and Portland trips, boys and dress up, mess and trampolines, camp food, late nights and early mornings! I sent it hard for Canada Day :) have to represent, and for the 4th we took a trip to the Coast for some surfin, beachin, yoga
on the beach, and sleeping on the sand under the stars.. :)

Hell Yeah Modan!

The season wrapped up and I couldn’t ask for more. It was a slow beginning but the MODAN girls killed it. We traveled across the world and took home some big titles! With the MODAN productions shirts being repped at X-Games, World Cup, WSI, Orage Masters, and Winter Park this company is stirring up quite the talk and I have to say we couldn’t be more excited. This next season we are hoping to take it even farther and make this more available to the public and all the girls out their! Here is a thanks to the girls and congratulations. These girls have accomplished so much this season traveling all across the world from France and Japan to Canada and Mammoth there was nothing that could stop them. Thank you for taking us with you on your adventures and letting our name be known! We captured some great moments of the girls showing off the MODAN name!
