The MODAN Girls! Angeli Vanlaanen

Angeli Vanlaanen

Hometown: Bellingham, WA
Current Residence: (winter) Breckenridge, CO (summer) Bellingham, WA

Angeli has been skiing since she was the ripe age of 8 and followed the influence of her big brother entering the world of freesking in 2005. Angeli rides for some of the biggest names in the industry including Red Bull, Atomic, Oakley, DNA and Breckenridge Mt. Angeli signed on with her biggest sponsor, Red Bull energy drinks, at the 2008 Winter X-Games. Angeli jams out to everything from Bob Marley, MGMT, Santogold, Tom Petty, Beyonce and of course the one hit wonder all my friends are pro by John Symms and Colby West. Although Angeli’s main focus is in the pipe she finds her favorite trick a 540 in the park. Angeli’s biggest influences in skiing include Tanner Hall because of his outstanding work ethic, Adam Delorme’s flawless style and Sarah Burke who has done so much for women’s skiing. Her season goals were to stomp her tricks at X-Games which we were all lucky enough to be at to cheer her on. Angeli stomped both runs holding her own in the biggest skiing competition to date. This summer you can find Angeli at Mammoth, CA. Mt. Hood, OR and possibly even New Zealand and South America continuing to ski her heart out all year round. Angeli is not only an amazing skier but also a gifted dancer she danced for 9 years doing Ballet, modern dance, jazz and hip-hop, she was even chosen for even chosen to dance for the Pacific Dance Works Ballet Company. Angeli, aside from skiing, loves dancing, art, cooking, baking one of a kind birthday cakes and other goodies, writing, camping, skateboarding, and surfing. Angeli is one of the most amazing people I know and I am so glad to have her as a part of this team. Angeli always has a positive attitude and smile on her face. With a film segment in Atomics 44 days with Tim Durtschi, Jossi Wells, Chris Benchetler, Dylan Natale, Brandon Becker, and Kevin Brower you can see just how much this girl kills it in the pipe, backcountry and urban jibs. Angeli is surely making her way to being one of the top skiers in the industry while maintaining a down to earth and positive attitude that we are so stoked on!

The MODAN Girls! Moo Eakin

Moo Eakin

Home town: White Pass, WA
Current Residence: Bend, OR

Moo is our youngest and newest team member and we are so excited to have her! Moo is at the ripe age of 14 and has only been skiing since she was 9! Moo switched from snowboarding to pick up freeskiing just 5 short years ago. Moo is already riding for Salomon, Oakley, Mt. Bachelor, Rockstar, Northwest Kids, and Skjersaa's ski shop. From the minute you are around Moo you will have a smile on your face. Moo is always in a good mood and dying to ski. Her favorite and signature trick is a spread eagle just trying to keep it steezy and fun. Looking up to Grete Eliassen, Michelle Parker and of course Ashley Battersby, Moo is always improving her tricks and her style. Moo is always bumping a variety of music that keeps you going including Lil Wayne, E40, Mac Dre, Mistah, F.A.B and anything that gets her hyphy. Moo wanted to improve her spinning this year and has definately gotten her air control on lock. Moo will be ripping it up at Hood this summer with a bunch of the MODAN team. Moo had a broken leg and although she is just coming back from that she is absolutely throwing down. All of us are so stoked to see how Moo shapes out. With an amazing amount of support from her friends and family I have no doubt Moo will push the limits of skiing in upcoming years. Moo recently just placed 5th at Copper Nationals even after getting a pretty bad concusion in the pipe.

Moo's Excerpt from her time at nationals this year:
"Nationals is so rad. There are over 1,600 skiers and snowboarders of all ages that come from all over to compete in this week long competition. It's always at Copper Mountain, which has a great park, and a really nice pipe. Everyone is super friendly and always down to shred which is the way it should be! Like I said I only got to compete in pipe, but all the girls killed it in slope this year, and everyone had a lot of fun!!"

We are so stoked to have this fun outgoing girl on our team. Moo definitely pushes the other girls to improve their skills because she is so quickly catching up to their skill level!

The MODAN Girls! Molly Ellowitz

Molly Ellowitz
Hometown: El Paso, TX
Current residence: Salt Lake City, UT
Age: 19

Molly Ellowitz is one of the originals of Modan productions and is thoroughly excited to see this actually coming together. Molly moved to Utah with her family at a very young age and has been skiing the Wasatch Range since she was 3 years old. At about the age of 11 Molly started keeping up with her brother and family in the big mountain including the infamous peaks of Alta and Snowbird. Around 3 years ago, with the influences of her good friends she picked up park skiing here in Utah and quickly developed a niche for the sport. Molly has been skiing with Salomon skis and Alta Sports for 3 seasons and Scott goggles for 2 seasons. Using girl skiers as influences including Sarah Burke, Ingrid Backstrom, and good friends Ashley Battersby, Dania Assaly and Veronica Kelly as immediate inspiration in pipe, on jumps and on rails. While Molly skis she jams out to Lil Wayne, DL Incognito, Cool Kids, Bob Mary, Cali P and of course Britney Spears. As Molly's forte is jumping her favorite trick is a mute 5. Molly this season has focused a lot on getting her air sense down and you can tell that she feels good and confident throwing anything in the air now it has been so fun watching her improve this season I can only imagine where she is going to take skiing! Molly took some time off competing this year to play in the powder and hang more with her friends this year she competed in the queens cup which she and her team won the previous year. Molly tweaked her knee at queen's cup which unfortunately put a little damper on her season but she is heading down to Mt. Hood with fellow team member and good friend Anna Borgman to shred Windells for the summer. Molly is always down to party and has a positive outlook on life, she loves to climb, travel, camp hike and so much more. Being that Molly grew up so close to the mountains and the outdoors Molly became a very outgoing person and loves to be outdoors. Molly is a great girl and an amazing skier and we are so glad to have her on our team!
